Jo: Hello. It’s Jo here from Yeshair . And I just wanted to show you and talk with one of our clients about how Yeshair has transformed her life. And so I’m going to introduce you to Debbie.
Debbie: Hi. Hi.
Jo: So Debbie, do you just want to talk about what your hair was like before you came a part of our family?
Debbie: Sure. My hair was high maintenance. It was every day I would wash it, I would dry it. I would then, within a half an hour, it would look like I hadn’t done it.
Jo: Oh wow.
Debbie: Yeah. And very dry. Very dry and brittle particularly. And so, frizz was a big problem.
Jo: I do remember that.
Debbie: Frizz was huge. And, it was very hard to keep it in a style. And it’s interesting that I have never, until now, realized how preoccupied I always was with my hair. Oh, it’s going to rain. My hair’s going to get wet. You know. I hope it doesn’t get splashed.
Because I knew that, if that happened, frizz was going to be, you know, my hair was going to look like…I don’t know what I’d look like, but it wasn’t good.
Jo: And so, like fast forward. Obviously, you have learned now about curls.
Debbie: I have.
Jo: How to hydrate, how to use the right products to support that.
Jo: And, what is the difference for you now?
Debbie: It’s striking. The difference is striking on a lot of levels. The way that it looks is completely different to how it looked. Now, I love it.
And I just think this is how my hair is meant to be. You know. It’s meant to be soft curls. It’s not meant to be dry, frizzy, horrible hair. It’s made a big difference to everything that I do, because I don’t have to think about my hair anymore.
I think about it maybe once a week or so, do my hair. That’s it. You know, people talk about lazy hair days. Every day is a lazy hair day for me.
Jo: Woot. Woot.
Debbie: I just get up and go, “Okay, I’m done.” And I know that whatever happens, if it gets wet, if it gets rained on, if it gets splashed, if it gets in the wind, it’s okay. You know? It’s not going to look that different to how it looks now.
Jo: Amazing. Now, another question. So, a woman of your age, your stage of life, did you ever think something could change in your life to give you such a natural confidence. Is it?
Debbie: It is a confidence. It is a confidence. And, it’s interesting that you say that, because I was, you know, it’s almost embarrassing to say that I’m 60 years old, and for the first time in my life I love my hair.
Because I never did. I didn’t hate it, but it was never just a part of me. It was something that I had to work on, something that I had to put a lot of effort into, something that I always felt like the effort wasn’t even worth it, because it never looked like I wanted it to look.
So yeah, it’s made a huge difference to me, in terms of my confidence, but also in terms of, I don’t know, almost a calmness. You know? That sounds ridiculous, but more relaxed, more, you know, “Yeah, that’s okay.” You know?
Whereas, yeah, I would second guess doing things like, you know, “Do you want to come on a boat?” And I’d think of my hair. You know. Maybe I’ll tie it back. Or maybe, you know, it’s always this thing about my hair, which sounds a bit vain really. Doesn’t it?
Jo: Yeah. No, no. It’s real. We’re women. So, what would you say to someone wondering if they should take the plunge?
Debbie: Look, I would say give it a shot. You know, it’s the most low maintenance thing I’ve ever done. It’s comfortable. I think it’s pretty. I think it’s nice. I think it looks good. It looks right.
But more importantly, it feels right. You know, it feels like this is me. This isn’t me trying to be, you know, somebody else’s hair. You know. And that’s something I would always do. I would go to a hairdresser and say, “I want my hair to look like this.” And they’d say, “Sure.”
And, if I was lucky, I would come out and look a little bit like that image. But the next, oh probably by the time I got home in the car, it didn’t look like that anymore.
So, it gives you that, I don’t know, that self assurance that it’s you. This is me. And, with that comes a freedom I guess, a freedom of thinking. Yeah.
Jo: Well, I hope that’s encouraged you. And, this is just a regular woman, beautiful lady to the core, telling you how Yeshair and the Curl Coach series has transformed her life.
